Should you put your prices on your Facebook page

Magkano po is the first thing most patients type. What you do with that question decides how many of them ever type a second message.

Frontdesk PH 6 minute read Pricing

Why she asks first

She is not shopping you against three other clinics on price alone, whatever it feels like. She is asking because she has a number in her head, she does not know if it is anywhere near right, and she does not want to walk in and be embarrassed.

The question is really can I afford this. Answered, she relaxes and starts thinking about when to come. Unanswered, she leaves, and she does not tell you that a price was never the problem.

The case against posting them

The honest objections, and they are real. A cleaning is not one price, because some mouths take twenty minutes and some take an hour. A number on a page invites the clinic down the road to sit just under it. And a price with no conversation around it puts you next to whoever is cheapest, which is never the argument you want to win.

There is also the fear that a published price becomes a promise you have to keep when the case turns out to be bigger than it looked.

The case for

Every one of those objections is about the wrong patient. The patient who is only ever going to pick the cheapest clinic was never yours. The patient a price list actually affects is the one who wanted to come and was too shy to ask.

And whatever the page says, your receptionist is answering the same question all day anyway, one message at a time, badly, hours late, while a patient is in the chair in front of her.

You are already telling everyone your prices. You are just doing it one slow message at a time.

The middle way

Publish starting prices for the routine, predictable work, and be plain that the rest depends on the mouth.

  • Consultation, one number.
  • Cleaning, starts at, with a line saying heavier cases take longer.
  • A simple filling, starts at.
  • Extraction, simple, starts at.
  • Everything else, seen at the consultation and quoted before anything is done.

That last line is the one that protects you, and it is also the one patients find fair. Nobody minds being told the price depends. They mind being told nothing.

How to word it

Say the number, say what it includes, and say what happens next. In the language she used with you.

Reply to magkano po

Hi po, cleaning starts at [your price], and it can be more if there is heavy build up, which the dentist will tell you before starting. Consultation is [your price]. Would you like a slot this week?

Note the last sentence. A price answer that does not offer a booking leaves her to make the next move herself, and most people do not.

Where to put it so it gets read

Four places, and they take an hour between them. A pinned post on the Facebook page, so it sits at the top. The services section of your Google listing. The website, if you have one. And in the first reply anyone gets when they ask, so nobody waits.

A price list that only exists in the receptionist's head is not a price list.

When prices change

Change the pinned post the same day, and honour the old price for anyone already booked. Getting quoted one number and charged another is one of the few things that reliably turns a happy patient into a public review.

Where to start this week

Write down the five things you get asked about most and the starting price for each. Pin it to your page. Add it to your listing. Then answer every magkano po message with a number and a slot offer instead of a promise to check.

Answering it within a minute, at ten at night, in the language she asked in, is the part that needs somebody awake. That is the part we take over.
